  Mr. James Jerry Mason age 88 of Chicken Pit Rd. Young Harris, GA passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday September 1,2023 following an extended illness. Mr. Mason was born on January 29,1935 in Texarkana, TX., the son of the late Joseph Mason and the late Ola Norton Mason. James was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean War. James and his wife Diane owned and operated Jim and D’ees Rock Shop in Young Harris. James taught at the William Holland School of Lapidary Arts for 17 years. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, two sisters, Mary Jo Steinmyer and Cora Faye Mason. Mr. Mason was of the Baptist faith. 

   Surviving Mr. Mason are his loving wife and best friend of fifty two years, Diane Rivers Mason of Young Harris, GA., two sons, Marty Mason of Hayesville,  NC., Mikell Mason of Ruby, SC., one brother, Howard Mason of Charleston, SC., three grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Logan Mikell and Skylar Elena Mason, many other relatives and friends also survive.

    A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Fall and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Jerry Mason Scholarship Fund % William Holland School of Lapidary Arts or Harvest Fellowship Church of Young Harris in Mr. Mason’s memory.
