Mrs. Janie Irene Newell, age 83, entered into rest on Monday morning, July 6, 2026. Family and friends are invited to a time of viewing and visitation on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 between the hours of 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. Newell was preceded in death by her parents, William Pittman and Ruby Barker Pittman; her husband, Thomas R. Newell, Sr.; brothers, Frank Pittman, Bobby Pittman and Roger Pittman.

Survivors include her son, Thomas R. “Tony” (Shauna) Newell of Jefferson, SC; granddaughter, Sydney (Willie) Watkins, and their children, Eliza, Wade and Will; grandson, Vince Newell; siblings, Richard Pittman and Yvonne Baker.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses, caregivers and staff of Palmetto Oaks Residential Care Home for the compassion that you have shown to Mrs. Newell.

Flowers are welcome, but memorial contribution to a charity of one’s choice are also appreciated.
