Helen Robeson Moore, 78, of Burlington, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at the AuthoraCare Hospice Home. Helen was born on September 29, 1947 in Florence, SC, to the late Leon Barton Robeson and the late Maggie Lee Streater Robeson. She was married to the late Michael K. Moore for 26 years until his passing in 2019. She was also preceded in death by her brother Bill Robeson and her sisters Rachel King and MaryBeth Freeman. She was a member of McConnell Road Baptist Church.

She grew up in Chesterfield, SC and moved to Greensboro in 1975. She was a bookkeeper by trade but her real job was her kids. She was the “fun” mom and the one voted to chaperone for spring breaks. She was the original soccer mom and spent many weekends at soccer tournaments, rain or shine. She liked fishing, even tried a little tree stand hunting and loved to play golf. She also enjoyed a variety of card games and really liked winning.

She was a people person and all those that met her, loved her instantly. She was a bit sarcastic and whenever she was picked on by her kids or grandkids her favorite response was “Oh shut up!” She was a friend to all and would do anything for anyone. She will be missed by so many.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Janie Smith Ford (Matt) of Whitsett, NC; son, Jeff Smith (Mary Jordan) of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Jake Ford of Greenville, NC, Nick Ford (Lindsey) of Greenville, NC; Wren Smith and Ollie Smith of Greensboro, NC; her sister Becky Burch of Jefferson, SC: many nieces and nephews; other extended family, friends and loved ones; all of the folks at the Village of Brookwood and her best friend Brenda Adams.

The family would like to extend it’s appreciation to all of those at the Village of Brookwood, from the restaurant servers to the skilled nursing unit and all of those in between. She loved living at the Village and the people who made it home. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Hospice Home in Burlington for taking care of her during her brief illness.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at McConnell Road Baptist Church, 3911 McConnell Road, Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
