Harold B. "Bubba" Gardner, Jr.

Harold Baxter Gardner, Jr. “Bubba,” passed away August 13, 2026. The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date.

The only son of Harold Gardner, Jr. and Sara Elizabeth Gardner, Bubba was a gentle person, a man of simple pleasures who loved his wife dearly and never missed a day that he didn’t tell her, that he loved her. When his children left, his last words to them would be, "remember this old man loves you."

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jean Gardner of 64 years; daughters, Terrie Elizabeth (Danny) Curtis, and Sherrie Lynn Price; grandsons, Daniel Carl (Joleigh) Curtis, Jeffery David (Victoria) Price; granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann (Brandon) Snipes, and Kimberly Lynn (Lander) Dykes. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, but his great grandchildren were the icing on the cake, Deacon Lee Snipes, Oakleigh Jean Snipes, Ryleigh Jo Curtis, and Ivy Lynn Dykes. He is also survived by his sister, Edna Harvey; brothers-in-law, Kenneth & Mattie Thomas, Phillip & Christie Thomas, and Steve & Jan Thomas; very very special niece, Sheila Carroll; and special brother and friend to the end, Ronald & Debbie Poole.

Bubba was reunited in heaven with his sisters that had preceded him in death, Louise Harvey, and Shuggie Rhyne.

Bubba’s family is left with a lifetime of memories of a man that was truly loved by his family. No greater gift to have had in this lifetime than the love of family! We had it with him through his laughter, his funny little song that he would always sing to the little ones, and his funny sayings.

The family of “Bubba Pa” Gardner leaves you with these words: Love your family with all your heart and show them every day how much you love them. For it is truly your greatest treasure here on this earth, and when you lose the “main” member of that family, your family will never be the same again.
