Harold Funderburk
4-25-1907 - 2-15-2008

100 year old Harold Funderburk left this earth on Friday, February 15, 2008. He is predeceased by his parents Howard J. Funderburk and Sloan Jones Funderburk; his siblings; Rev. Wade Funderburk, Dr. Guy Funderburk, Coble Funderburk, Oleta F. Winburn, Watha F. Knight, and Azilee F. Byrd.

Surviving sibling is Hampton Funderburk of Monroe, NC

Harold completed his college degree at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and taught school for many years before joining the Employment Security Commission of South Carolina. This job stationed him in Charleston, South Carolina where he met Rhoda Grainger who gave him his only child, Tammy M. Funderburk. Tammy resides in High Point, NC with Harold's 3 year old granddaughter Zoe Aribella Funderburk.

His numerous activities included many entries in horse shows, farming, raising beef cattle, going to local dances, and actively participating in church services. He was the Sunday school superintendent at Dudley Baptist Church for many years as well as a Sunday school teacher. He later joined First Baptist Church of Pageland.

Many will remember "Mr. Harold" and his mule Huldy in the Pageland Watermelon Festival Parade. Huldy lives now on a farm south of Pageland and is doing well. He was always very proud of her.

If you knew Harold you were no doubt positively affected by him. Whether he lent you money or farm equipment, gave you advice or was just someone you saw driving around long after he should not have been driving, he cared a great deal about his fellow man
