Funeral services for Mr. Eugene B. Roscoe, Sr., 81, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020 at The Gathering Place Church of the Nazarene (formerly the First Church of the Nazarene). The Rev. Tom McCrea and the Rev. David Roscoe will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Those attending the service will be asked to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Directors are caring for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gathering Place Church of the Nazarene, 1909 W. BoBo Newsom Hwy., Hartsville, SC 29550 or to a charity of choice.
Mr. Roscoe entered into rest on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 of complications associated with an unexpected illness. Born in Chesterfield County, SC he was a son of the late Bogan Calvin and Mildred Burr Roscoe. He went to Chesterfield High School and served in the United States Air Force for 2 years. He began driving trucks and in 1988 purchased his first truck and became the owner and operator of Roscoe's Trucking until his retirement. He loved going to the Gathering Place Church of the Nazarene where he was a member. He enjoyed helping others that where in need and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 35 wonderful and happy years, Kathryn Kelley Roscoe; sons, Eugene "Koot" B. Roscoe, Jr. of Ruby, SC, David (Corrie) Roscoe, of Cheraw, SC; daughters, Christy (Robert) Polson of Mt. Gilead, NC, Missy (Grant) Summersett of Florence, SC; step-children, Rick (Kim) Talbert of Hartsville, SC, Vickie Talbert Perkinson of Hartsville, SC, Melissa (Wally) Hale of Bennettsville, SC; brothers, Bogan "Buddy" Roscoe of Powder Springs, GA, Steve Roscoe of Marion, NC, Mickey (Barbara Ann) Roscoe of Cheraw, SC; sisters, Donnie Griggs of Cheraw, SC, Helen Hammonds of Cheraw, SC; 10 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-greandchildren; 1 step grandson that he raised as a son, Holdon Moore.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Alma Brigman, Jackie Edgeworth; brothers, Joel Roscoe and Tommy Roscoe; grandson, Houston Rivers, who is rejoicing in Heaven with his Pa. They are no longer sick and having a wonderful time together.
