Ernest "Ernie" N. Bailey

Cheraw, SC

Mr. Ernest "Ernie" N. Bailey, age 79, formerly of Patrick, SC, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. A Celebration of Life Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Patrick Cemetery by Pastor Marty Shaw and Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. 

Mr. Bailey was born July 16, 1945 in Patrick, SC the son of the late Carlos Greene and Dora Crowley Bailey. Ernie was a proud U.S. Navy veteran having served for 6 years as an ETN including a stint on the U.S.S. Everglade. Mr. Bailey’s desire to help people also lead him to his work as a state park lifeguard. Ernie would go on to work in I.T. for Hewlett Packard in Atlanta, Georgia, and for the Department of Social Services in Columbia, South Carolina. Ernie continued his I.T. work for D.S.S. until his retirement. Mr. Bailey spent his retirement living in Patrick, SC, and Cheraw, SC. He enjoyed walking and running. He was also a lover of animals, especially his beloved pets; Holly Belle, and Bella.

In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his brother, John Bailey; and sister-in-law, Pat Bailey.

Survivors include his loving partner, Barbara Driggers of the home; children, Zach (Emily) Bailey of Atlanta, GA, Marty (Tammy) Shaw of Chesterfield, SC, Scott Shaw of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Lily Bailey of Atlanta, GA, Logan Bailey of Atlanta, GA, Jayden Miller of Chesterfield, SC, Jace Evans of Chesterfield, SC, Cam (Heather) Shaw of Rock Hill, SC; siblings, Carlos (Patricia) Bailey of Camden, SC, Libby Strickland of Columbia, SC, and William Bailey of VA.

The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to Jenny, Tabitha, Jennifer, Dr. Novinger, and Crescent Hospice for their care and support.
