MRS. DOROTHY LEE STANTON HENDRIX

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Hendrix, age 82, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, surrounded by love. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 in the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Patrick Cemetery, where Mrs. Hendrix will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Mr. Elmer R. “Jack” Hendrix. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel.


Mrs. Hendrix was born on January 12, 1944, in High Point, North Carolina. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Cora Wilks Stanton and Henry James Stanton. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she possessed a strong spirit and a wonderful sense of humor that touched all who knew her. Her love, wisdom, and unwavering support will remain cherished by those fortunate enough to have shared in her life.


She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Elmer Ray “Jack” Hendrix, who passed away in 2023. They had a wonderful love story.


Dorothy will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her strength through life’s challenges, and her ability to bring laughter and comfort to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the memories she created, and the countless lives she touched.


SURVIVORS


Daughters, Gina Hendrix and her partner, Stephen Shenk, of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, along with their beloved grand-dog, Harry; Christy Lafferty and husband Patrick Lafferty of Arden, North Carolina. Katie Cox and grandson Bryce Cox, and great grandchildren Ella & Caden Cox.


One of Dorothys’ greatest joys was being a grandmother to her four cherished grandchildren: Bryce Cox, Seamus Lafferty Savannah Lafferty, and Jedidiah Lafferty.


She is also survived by her dear brother, Jerry Wayne Stanton, and his wife, Marilyn Stanton, as well as many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love, kindness, and friendship.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who loved and cared for Dorothy throughout her life.
