Dorothy "Dot" Burr

Chesterfield, SC

Dorothy Jordan Burr, affectionately known as “Dot”, was a beloved sister, mother, grand- great-grand, great-great grandmother, and friend. She ‘loved this life she lived’ and was so grateful for the approximately 84 years (8/23/1941 - 7/27/2025) that God gave to her here on Earth. She realized, “How very special are we for just a moment to be part of life’s eternal rhyme.” And now, how very blessed is she to be in the presence of her Savior for all Eternity.

During her time here, she worked outside of the home in the textile and electric industries. Retirement was not for her though as she then followed her true call/passion as a caregiver to individuals, within the community, whom she grew to love. All along, she remained dedicated and faithful to her family and was a strong support (providing constant care for her grandson, Joshua, of the home). She was always humble and remained selfless through her time on Earth but would take brief pleasure for herself in yard shopping and perusing thrift stores. Even then though, she was always looking for small ‘treasures’ for others. She was a long-time member of Douglas Mill Church.

Preceding her passing were her parents: Henry Dallas Jordan and Beatrice Tarleton Jordan; her brothers: Roy Jordan, Clyde Jordan, Charlie Jordan, and Elbert Jordan; her spouses: Paul Joel Wallace and JP Burr; her daughter Betty Jo Hatchell, and step-children: Paul Wallace, Jr., Ann Caulford, James Wallace, and Carolyn Crowley.

To anticipate a reunion with her are: sister - Eva Evans; brother - Jerry (Margie) Jordan; daughters: Judy Knight, Patricia (Wesley) Davis, and Sherry Wallace; step-children: Myrtle Ratliff and Catherine (Andy) Wright; eight grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Gerald Rivers and Pastor Hank Griffin with burial to follow in the Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery.
