Dixon Wayne Berry, a cherished son and husband known for his kind, loving, caring, and compassionate personality left us on September 23, 2024. Born on March 19, 1970 in Cheraw, South Carolina. Dixon lived a life filled with tremendous passion and service toward others.
Dixon is survived by his wife of thirty-two years Kimberley Barbour Berry of Hurt and his mother, Linda M. Berry of Chesterfield, SC. Uncle, Jerry Morris (Cindy) of Chesterfield, SC. Cousin, Heather Morris and aunt, Diane Morris of Darlington, SC. His mother-in-law, Anne H. Barbour of Gretna and brother-in-law, Duane Barbour of Chatham. Nieces and nephews, Chasity N. Barbour, Wesley Barbour, Skylour Stultz, Jaden Barbour, and Kaidence Stores of Vinton. Special friends Teri and Wayne Tuck of Evington. His beloved fur children, Stuart, Koko, and Isabella. All of whose lives were greatly enriched by Dixon’s presence. His departure leaves an unfillable void, yet they find comfort in the memories and everlasting love they shared.
Waiting for Dixon at the Doors to Heaven will be his sister Sheri L. Berry, father, Marion L. Berry, his PaPa, John Clinton Morris, PaMa, Retha Morris, grandparents Marion L. and Willie Berry, father-in-law Calvin W. Barbour and brother-in-law, Timothy W. Barbour.
Dixon was a graduate of Gretna Senior High School and Central Virginia Community College, with a degree in Criminal Justice. He began his career in law enforcement with the Town of Hurt. He continued his career path with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Department where he served with honor for thirteen years rising to the rank of Sergeant. Dixon loved the time he shared with his Centra Gretna Medical Center family, where he was a Sergeant for five years. Dixon was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altavista. He loved to watch Gunsmoke and the Andy Griffith Show which helped develop at a young age his desire to be in law enforcement. He was a true Navy and Gold Notre Dame fan. Dixon loved working on his HO scale model train layout, running, and keeping an immaculate yard.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Altavista by Rev. Mike Lee and Rev. Alden Gallimore. Burial will follow in New Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
