Mr. Dewey Thomas Lear, age 82, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. A time of viewing, visitation with the family, and sharing of memories will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2021 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Due to the continued COVID-19 risks, we ask that you practice social distancing at all times and refrain from any physical contact. The family would like for all attending the service to please wear a face covering.

Mr. Lear was born October 27, 1938 in Ruby, SC a son of the late Ernest and May Bell Jordan Lear. He was a retired employee of the Town of Cheraw and a former employee of Burlington Industries (formerly James Fabrics.) He was a U.S. Army Veteran. A true outdoorsman, Dewey enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a “Jack of all Trades” and there was nothing he couldn’t fix.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lear was also preceded in death by his wife, Lou Ellen Turner Lear; brothers, Rev. Harold, Boyd R., William, and Ernest “Jr.” Lear; and son-in-law, Rusty Stover.

Survivors include his children, Charles (Libby) Tucker, and Linda Stover both of Rock Hill, SC, Jerry Wayne Tucker of Cheraw, SC, Ernest F. (Denise) Tucker, III, and Donnie (Bonnie) Tucker both of Rock Hill, SC; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Carol Hancock of Ruby, SC, and Margaret Morris of Cheraw, SC; brother, Ed Lear of McConnells, SC; special companion, Alice Gurganus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
