Danny Ray McLain

Hartsville, SC - Mr. Danny Ray McLain, age 63, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. John Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Grover Johnson. Following the service, the family will greet friends at the cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Saturday at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. 

Born on September 25, 1961, in Chesterfield, SC, Mr. McLain was the son of the late Daniel Wesley McLain and Mary Lizzie Huggins McLain. He spent his career working as a machine operator at various power plants and was a member of St. John Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. McLain had a passion for working on cars and go-carts, and also enjoyed racing them. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and took great pride in being "Pa-pa" to his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McLain was preceded in death by his sister, Sherry McLain White, and his nephew, Wesley White.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Rita McLain; his daughter, Kimberly (Dean) Gainey of Hartsville, SC; stepson, Jeff Thomas of Florence, SC; and grandchildren, Braxton and Ariana. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce (Richard) Jones of Patrick, SC, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
