          Mr. Columbus Ray “Cuggie” Hewett, age 71, entered into rest on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Jerry Gainey and Rev. Johnny Quick. The family will receive friends and family following the service at the cemetery. Family and friends may also come by Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home on Saturday, March 25, 2023 between the hours of 9 am- 4 pm to pay their respects and sign the register book.

 

          Mr. Hewett was born May 21, 1951 in Cheraw, SC a son of the late Columbus Norwood and Ester Mae Lyons Hewett. Cuggie was a retired truck driver. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the news and westerns on television. Cuggie was known to tinker on lawnmowers and was an avid NASCAR fan. Mr. Hewett’s greatest love was his grandchildren, whom he loved spending his time with.

 

          In addition to his parents, Mr. Hewett was also preceded in death by his brother, Clyde M. Hewett.

 

          Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Shelia Wallace Hewett of the home; children, Eric Hewett (Carrie) of Chesterfield, SC, Shane Hewett of Chesterfield, SC; Mandy (Chris) Gainey of Patrick, SC, Josh (Roseanna) Wallace of Cheraw, SC, Bridget (Brad) Gandy of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Delaney (RJ) Turner, Cassidy Davis, Justin (Taylor) Hewett, Kane Davis, Kaili Wallace, Chloe Hewett, Berry Wallace, Jessie Smith, Mary Ann Smith, JJ Wallace, Lilly Wallace, Sarah Gainey, Caroline Gainey, and Hannah Harpe; great-grandchildren, Coen Davis, Gemma Adair, and Wrenley Turner; sisters, Jennie (Bud) Duhe of Norco, LA, Geraldine (Jim) Greer of North Myrtle Beach, SC;  in addition to numerous nieces and nephews whom were all very special to him.

 

          The family would like to extend a special thank you to his nurse Carrie and Mcleod Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
