Charles David Rivers

Mr. Charles David Rivers, age 85, entered into rest on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Chesterfield Baptist Church by Pastor Randy Bishop with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Pageland, SC. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services will be live-streamed on the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 11:00 AM.

Due to Covid-19, the family of Mr. Charles D. Rivers, Chesterfield Baptist Church, and Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home requests that anyone attending the services please practice all social distancing guidelines and wear a face covering. In addition, seating in the church will be reduced to allow for proper social distancing.

Mr. Rivers was born July 22, 1935 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Mayo and Fannie Brooks Rivers. A longtime member of Chesterfield Baptist Church, Charles was an ordained deacon, member of the choir and active in the men’s brotherhood. He served in the National Guard and was a charter member of the Chesterfield Rescue Squad. Charles served on the Chesterfield Fire Department for 30+ years and was a member of the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #220. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed football, golf, and a was a huge Washington Redskins fan. Mr. Rivers will be remembered for his kind smile, strong hand shake, and love for his family and church.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a sister, Effie Lou Rivers Jerome.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Madge M. Rivers, of the home; son, David (Pamela Lemmond) Rivers of Waxhaw, NC; sister, Hazel Davis of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Erica R. (Michael) Kilroy of Monroe, NC, and Davey E. Rivers of Waxhaw, NC; 2 great-grandchildren; aunt, Sadie Traskiewics of Rockwell, NC; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
