Charles "Junior" Cassidy

Patrick, SC

          Mr. Charles Junior Cassidy, age 89, entered into rest on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 29, 2024 at Palmetto Baptist Church by Pastor Drake Horton and Reverend William Griggs with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Masonic Rites will be rendered by Ruby Masonic Lodge # 314 and the South Carolina Army National Guard Honors team will perform Military Honors during the committal service. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Monday, prior to the service at the church.

          Mr. Cassidy was born August 5, 1934 in Patrick, SC a son of the late Carl Benjamin and Thelma Wilkerson Cassidy. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 74. Junior was a retired warden with the SC Forestry Commission and the owner and operator of Cassidy’s Grocery. He was a member of Palmetto Baptist Church and the Ruby Masonic Lodge # 314. Junior enjoyed gardening and “piddling” on his used cars. He could often be found sitting on the front porch with his bride watching the hummingbirds.

          In addition to his parents, Mr. Cassidy was also preceded in death by his brother, Sam & Mary Frances Cassidy; sister, Vivian & Fred Lewis.

          Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gloria Cassidy; son, Charles J. Cassidy of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Sarah Cassidy (Joshua) Poole of Conway, SC, and Samantha (Mark) Rollins of Columbia, SC; great grandchildren, Landon & Elizabeth Poole, and Cloe & Haven Rollins; brother, Laverne Cassidy of Patrick, SC; and sister, Eunice (Steve) Newnam of Angier, NC
