Brenda Wilkerson Forsythe

Harrisburg, NC

Mrs. Brenda Wilkerson Forsythe, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday morning, September 22, 2026. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, September 27, 2026 at White Oak Presbyterian Church officiated by Chaplain Joel Rayfield. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 - 3:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the church.

The family invites everyone attending the service to come dressed casually and, if possible, to wear something red in her honor as a special tribute to her memory.

Mrs. Forsythe was born November 27, 1946 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late Arthur L and Lucy Oliver Wilkerson. She was a graduate of Ruby High School where she maintained perfect attendance from first through twelfth grade and received the distinction of valedictorian of her graduating class. Upon graduation, she attended Palmer Business College in Columbia, SC and graduated from Winthrop University where she received a B.S. in Business Education and an M.A. in English.

Her teaching career included tenures at Garinger High School, Ranson Middle School, and Harding University High School before retiring with over 34 years of service. She was known for her uncanny ability of making her classes interesting and applicable to each student’s aptitude regardless of his/her academic level. Brenda was a life-long member of White Oak Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing the piano and was an avid sports enthusiast. She loved the Atlanta Braves, the USC Gamecocks, and the Carolina Panthers.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Forsythe was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bert Stanford Forsythe; and her brother, Wilford Wilkerson.

She is survived by her niece, Donna Wilkerson of Vance, SC; sister-in-law, Pauline Wilkerson of Vance, SC; numerous cousins and her beloved cat, Oliver.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to her caregivers with Hallmark Homecare and staff of VIA Hospice for their love and support.
