Brenda Joyce Matheson Cranford was carried home by the covered wings of angels to the Lord Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Born in Wallace, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Lee "Doc" Matheson and Alene Quick Matheson

Brenda lived most of her life in Cheraw, SC attending Cheraw High school, and North Cheraw Baptist Church where her daddy, Jessie "Doc" Matheson, was the church's deacon. From Cheraw, Brenda lived in Myrtle Beach, Chapin, SC, Tennessee, and West Columbia, SC. Brenda was a retired nurse who dedicated more than 35 years of care, guidance, and warmth to everyone. She loved to care for people, whether it was by her nursing, in the kitchen cooking for her family and friends, or serving in the church. She was driven to care for others and believed the world could always use one more kind-hearted person.

Brenda had many passions in life but being able to sing the words of the Lord and music was probably her greatest passion of all. She was a choir member at North Cheraw Baptist church, and Brenda served with the Good Samaritan Colony in McBee, SC. She was a member of the Socastee Baptist Church praise team singers and many other churches over her lifetime. No matter where she lived, she was always at home in the church and the choir. Celebrating the Lord in Christmas and Easter Cantata’s was a favorite joy.

Brenda loved to travel, people and life. Her travels took her all over the United States, from coast to coast throughout the Caribbean and Hawaii too. She truly lived the words of Live, Laugh, Love. Brenda is known for her generous spirit, fun loving personality, and gift to heal. She will be remembered as an Angel that walked amongst us here on earth, a devoted wife, mother, grand and great grandmother, caregiver, and friend.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Tyson Lane Lowery. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Cranford, her children Bryan Griggs and Raleigh Griggs, all becoming one family with Bobby's children, Lisa, Todd, Dawn Cranford, and Jay Parish. She has 13 grandchildren and one Great Grandson.

Memorial Services to be held at Socastee Baptist Church October 1, 2022 @ 3pm. Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
