It is with profound sadness and enduring love that we bid farewell to Reverend Bobby Joe Crawford, affectionately known as Bob. Born on February 17, 1941, in the heart of Neelyville, Missouri, he blessed this world with his unwavering faith and benevolent spirit until his peaceful passing on May 12, 2025, at his cherished home in Hemingway, South Carolina.
Rev. Bob's life journey was marked by devotion to his family, his country, and his God. He shared a beautiful union of 63 years with his beloved wife, Deloris Ann “Dee” Miller Crawford. Their love was a testimony in itself, and it blossomed into a close-knit family that included children Lisa Klettke (Rick), Bill Crawford (Becki), and Byron Crawford (Kristal); along with cherished grandchildren, Joshua Lee Causey, Amber Pamment (Paul), Brandon Wilson (Tiffany), Trisha Harville (Justin), Cody Stoner, Rachel Curry (James), Kylie Rollings (Joseph), Ben Crawford (Grace), and Brayden Crawford; and ten adored great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
Rev. Bob was a beloved brother to Gary Crawford (Linda), Veda Schlichtemier, Reda Roehm, and Kendall Crawford (June). His legacy of love and leadership continues through them. Preceded in departure by his parents, Cecil and Alliene Evans Crawford, his dear daughter, Cynthia Gail Crawford, and his brother Tilden Dean Crawford, Bob’s memories will be a refuge for those he leaves behind.
Raised on a farm in Neelyville, Missouri, Rev. Bob’s early life instilled in him a robust work ethic and a sincere appreciation for the land. His youthful zeal led him to serve with honor on the USS Gearing as a proud sailor in the United States Navy. His professional endeavors included a 15-year tenure as an engineer with Boeing, where his ingenuity and dedication shone brightly.
In 1970, Bob's life took a pivotally divine course as he gave his heart to the Lord. His calling to preach in 1973 was a reflection of his deep commitment to his faith. He served numerous congregations across Illinois, Texas, Virginia, and within the upstate and low country of South Carolina, guiding and enriching countless lives.
Bob's service extended beyond the church walls; voluntarily serving faithfully in his community in several capacities. He was an avid supporter of the law enforcement, often riding with the officers to experience their daily responsibilities. This led him to the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, S.C. and later he was instrumental in helping to create the Chaplain Program for the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department. He also served as interim pastor in Hemingway, Johnsonville, Andrews, Jefferson, Midway, and Cedar Grove, further demonstrating his unwavering commitment to serve.
Those who knew Rev. Bob can attest to his natural ability to lead people to the Lord, his penchant for welcoming everyone as a friend, and his extraordinary knack for making individuals feel significant and appreciated. His life was a testament to the values he held dear - faith-filled, friendly, and generous. His passing leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.
