Chesterfield, SC – Mr. Billy Thomas Eddins, aged 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, January 3, 2026, at Cheraw Post Acute. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Sandy Plains Christian Fellowship Church Cemetery, officiated by Ms. Shannon Speight and Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall and other times at the home of his daughter, Suzanne Eddins.


Mr. Eddins was born on February 25, 1936, in Chesterfield, SC, to the late William Thomas “Will” Eddins and Chandler Olivia Rivers Eddins. He was a proud graduate of Zoar High School and Wingate Jr. College, as well as attending UNC Chapel Hill. Billy served in the SC Army National Guard and had an accomplished career as a life-long farmer. He founded and operated Green Acre Ranch, where he engaged in various activities including training hunting dogs, boarding dogs, managing a hunting preserve, running a sawmill, raising bees, operating a commercial quail business, and caring for a blueberry farm that became a hub for friendships over the years. A skilled craftsman known for his perfectionism, Billy took great pride in his work, especially his home. He was a dedicated southern gentleman who cherished the outdoors and held a firm belief in leaving the land better than you found it. Above all, he was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a true friend to all.


Mr. Eddins was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Libby” V. Eddins; and his sister, Elizabeth “Jackie” Eddins Burch, along with her husband, Charles.


He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Suzanne Eddins of Chesterfield, SC; his niece, Judge Kim Burch Gaskins of Chesterfield, SC; brothers-in-law, Tommy (Christine) Vaughn of Norwood, NC, and Bill Vaughn of Chesterfield, SC; sister-in-law, Sue (Steve) Barbee of Richfield, NC; numerous great nieces, including his special great niece, Gracyn (Josh) Newsome, and their son, Jackson; as well as great nephew, Will Gaskins, both of Chesterfield, SC.


The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice, with a special mention of family member and hospice nurse, Beverly Vaughn, for the exceptional care and support they provided.
