Mrs. Betty Brooks Teal, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 28, 2019. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, December 1, 2019 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Dr. Steve West with burial to follow in the Westfield Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Teal was born in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Walter Leroy Brooks, Sr. and Delilah Elizabeth Sellers Brooks. She was a former administrative secretary with Dan River Inc. for over 26 years and retired from Burlington Industries after 12 years of service. A faithful member of Westside Baptist Church, Betty served as an assistant with the V.B.S. meals and was also a member of the bereavement committee. Her hobbies included working in her yard, shopping, and staying current on Facebook. A beautiful lady who had a heart for always helping and caring for others, Betty was faithful to her family and friends. Whether it was transportation to and from a doctor’s appointment, or a day out shopping, Betty was always there. She will also be fondly remembered for great sense of humor and the gift of making others smile. Betty also had a special place in her heart for her mother-in-law, Lillian Lee Teal, and spoke very fondly of her often.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Teal was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Herman “Ozzie” Teal, (the love of her life); brothers, Walter Leroy “June-Bug” Brooks, Jr., and Jimmy R. Brooks; sisters, Sara B. Eddins, and Linda B. Williamson.
Survivors include her sister, Alice B. Parker of Chesterfield, SC; numerous nieces and nephews including special nephew who affectionately called her “Ma,” Tony (Brenda) Brooks of Cheraw, SC; and a host of loving cousins including, Carol Lee Hall, and Dana Lee White both of Cheraw, SC; sister of the heart, Betty Board of Cheraw, SC; and special friend and caregiver, Kitty Baker of Chesterfield, SC.
