Mrs. Betty Myers Deese, 86, entered into rest on Friday, May 17, 2024.  Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Pageland, SC by Pastor Don Rhyne and Pastor Sean Joplin with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, May 20, 2024 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Deese was born December 6, 1937 in Jefferson, SC a daughter of the late Clyde David and Alma Smith Myers. Betty was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She lived her faith daily as she was an avid reader of the scriptures. Mrs. Deese was an accomplished seamstress who also enjoyed cooking for her friends and family. Betty had a competitive side which could be seen anytime she watched game shows or played trivia and board games with her family. Mrs. Deese’s greatest joy in life was when her grandchildren would come spend the night on the family farm which was fondly named “Camp Croghan”.

 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Deese was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Edward Deese.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Janice Deese (Thomas) Palmer of Stallings, NC; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ryan) Oakes of Mint Hill, NC, Cassie (Ben) Buchanon of Stallings, NC, Caitlin Palmer of Chicago, IL, Jonathan Palmer of Chicago, IL, USMC Major Thomas (Bethany) Palmer of Jacksonville, NC; great-grandchildren, Braydin Dupre, Austin Dupre, Kinsley Oakes, Cole Maddox Buchanon, Ella Palmer, Tucker Palmer; siblings, Irene Joplin, Violet (Orie) Johnson, Verla Johnson, Sammy (Myrtle) Myers; sisters of the heart, Mary Mills, Jerrie Jordan; numerous special friends, nieces, nephews, and her beloved Bethlehem Baptist Church family.

 

Memorials can be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 5732 Peach Orchard Rd., Pageland, SC 29728; or to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, www.stjude.org.
