Arthur "A.J." Jake Hilliard

Mr. Arthur "A.J." Jake Hilliard, age 76, entered into rest on Monday, November 6, 2023. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 10, 2023 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Brent Taylor with burial to follow at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Hilliard was born July 31, 1947 in Rhine, GA, a son of the late Sidney and Orieta Selph Hilliard. Mr. Arthur was a truck driver for more than 50 years. He was an avid fan of soap operas and he never missed an episode of The Young and The Restless or The Bold and The Beautiful. Mr. Hilliard was a football fan and he pulled for the Carolina Panthers, win or lose. Arthur enjoyed grilling out for his family and he was known for being an “extra dad” to all of his nieces and nephews. Along with his family Arthur also loved his pet dog, Precious.  

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hilliard was also preceded in death by his wife, Willie “Faye” Hilliard; and brother, Billy Ray Hilliard.

Survivors include his son, Danny (Andrea Mullins) Hilliard of Chesterfield, SC; grand-daughter, Skylar Hilliard of Cheraw, SC; sister, Pat McDuffie of GA; nieces, Candace Murphy of GA, Kristie Zeigler, Tammy (Donnie) Howard, and Linda Driggers all of Cheraw, SC; nephews, Cale Hilliard of GA, Scottie Haire of Cheraw, SC, Mark McDuffie of GA and John Wayne (Lynn) Teal of Cheraw, SC; cousins, Georgia Robinson of Cheraw, SC, Dewitt (Jean) Hilliard of Cheraw, SC; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
