Mrs. Anita Gale Purvis Kearney entered into rest on the evening of Tuesday August 12, 2025 at the age of 67. The family will announce plans to celebrate her life in the coming days.

Mrs. Kearney was born September 29, 1957 in Vero Beach, FL a daughter of the late Chester Arthur and Lula Belle Boring Purvis. Anita graduated as valedictorian from Stanley Technical College, where she also served as president of the Cosmetology Club and was a proud member of the Who’s Who Among Students. After graduation, she began her career as a cosmetologist with JCPenney before transitioning into the medical field. Anita dedicated many years to working in medical records and transcription at Vero Beach Hospital and Coney Hospital. Upon relocating to South Carolina, she continued her career as a record keeper at ATI in Monroe, North Carolina. In retirement, Anita found joy in cooking and gardening, hobbies she embraced with the same passion she brought to her professional life.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kearney was preceded in death by her daughter, Amber Brewer; grandchild, Chase Kearney; brother-in-law, Clint Freddell; and twin saints.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dennis Edward Kearney of the home; son, Matthew (Marsha) Kearney of Deep Creek, NC; daughter, Sarah (Cody) Burkheart of Shelby, NC; grandchildren, Lettie, Magnus, Caitlain, Jacob; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Presley; sisters, Connie (Rev. David) Foster of Vero Beach, FL, Tracy Freddell of Burnell, FL, Monica (Richard) Kletty of Vero Beach, Fl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
