Alton Harold "Pop" Watkins

Mt. Croghan, SC

     Mr. Alton Harold "Pop" Watkins, age 81, entered into rest on Friday, August 21, 2026 at his home. In accordance with Mr. Watkins’ wishes, the family will celebrate his life privately at a later date.

     He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was a retired carpenter of many years. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ola Mae Honea Watkins; 4 brothers, Bobby Watkins, George Watkins, Jr, Odell Watkins, W.J. Watkins; and 3 sisters, Mildred Couch, Mattie Mae Holbrooks, Mary Holbrooks, and Brenda Hightower.

     Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Letricia Turner Watkins of the home; Children, Lisa (Daryl) Brooks, Matisha (Randy) Burch, Vernor Alton Watkins; 4 grandkids, Alisa (David) Walters, Tricia (Alan) Marlow, Destyni (Brad) Vicaire, Jackson Burch; 4 great grandkids, Hunter Bragg, Gabriel Walters, Tristan Brooks, and Wyatt Marlow; 3 special kids that came into his life Jasmine, Alissa, Zack McWilliams; siblings, Edward (Janice) Watkins, Sarah Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Memorials may be made to the college fund for Mr. Wakins’ grandchildren at any branch of First Citizens (c/o Matisha Burch).
