Alonzo Adams

          Mr. Alonzo Adams, age 85, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2023 at St. John Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery by Bro. Tommy Bailey. The family will greet friends from 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM Saturday prior to the service at the cemetery.

          Mr. Adams was born April 8, 1937 in the Gulledge Township of Anson County, NC a son of the late Lonnie “Lon” and Cleveland Williams Adams. He was a retired employee of Cheraw Yarn Mill with 32 years of service. A man with a gift for building, Alonzo could build and create anything. He also enjoyed being outdoors in God’s nature watching birds.

          In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was also preceded in death by his wife, Easter Louise Gulledge Adams; sisters, Bernice Tarlton, and Leona Adams; son, Danny Ray Adams; daughter, Linda Diana Crowley; daughter-in-law, Cindy Dixon; son-in-law, Delbert Crowley.

          Survivors include his son, Alonzo (Judy) Adams, Jr. of Patrick, SC; grandchildren, Nancy Purvis, Elizabeth Mays, Daniel Adams, Harold Wayne Adams, and Delbert Wayne Crowley; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

          The family would like to express a very special thank you to caregivers, Nancy Purvis and Tina Miller for all the love, care, and support provided to Mr. Alonzo and their family.
