Rev. Merle Warren Forman, age 85, entered into rest on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Funeral Services will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Rose Memorial Church of the Nazarene by Pastor Scott Gibson with burial to follow at a later date in Walsh, CO. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Rev. Forman was born May 26, 1932 in Ithaca, NY, a son of the late Mabel Louise Forman. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, Merle served in the 7th Infantry Division and landed in the Injan Invasion, and eventually served as personal driver and body guard for Gen. Edward M. Almond. Rev. Forman was also in law enforcement in Arlington, VA from 1957 to 1962 serving in the division motorcycle police outfit. He faithfully pastored seven churches in five states over 35 years. Merle loved people, his garden, his animals, and especially McDonald’s coffee. Mostly Merle loved the Lord, and he is walking in his Savior’s presence today.
Rev. Forman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; brother, Fred; and Fur Baby, “Buddy”.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria of the home; daughters, Diane (Gary) Mercer of Bethany, OK and Myrna (Tim) Shaffer of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Chaplain Lt. Col. (Select) Dan Forman of Colorado Springs, CO; stepchildren, Laura (Louie) Hammonds of Columbia, SC; Lana (Pat) Patterson of Evans, GA; Michael (Tosha) Broderick of Lancaster, SC; Thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one on the way.
