          Mr. John Carlos “Son” Teal, age 86, entered into rest on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Funeral Services will be 3:30 PM Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Cheraw Family Worship Center by Pastor Brandon Hutson and Rev. Jimmy Lambert with burial to follow in the Old St. David’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.


          Mr. Teal was born June 21, 1932 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late John Carlos and Margie Rebecca Rogers Teal. He opened Teal’s Seafood in Cheraw in 1961 and was the proud owner and operator until the present. Son’s passion was serving his friends the best hot fish and shrimp, and making certain his customers were satisfied. Mr. Teal was a man of character and was a true friend to all. His word and a handshake was his bond. A member of Cheraw Family Worship Center, Son enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. His favorite pastime was fishing.


          In addition to his parents, Son was also preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Teal; son-in-law, Barney “Sly” Driggers; and sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Johnson, Daisy Lewis, Mildred “Punk” Williams, and Ruth Lewis.


          Survivors include his devoted wife of 61 years, Dorothy Jean “Moss” Teal of the home; daughter, Linda Teal Driggers; son, John Wayne (Lynn) Teal both of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Salena Teal (Drew) Knight, Dan C. (Ashley) Driggers, Clint D. (Katelyn) Driggers, Lindsey (Tim) McCune, Brooke (Josh) Gardner, Scarlett Teal (Colt) Compton, Catie (Michael Matheny) Teal, and Cody (Myranda Williamson) Teal; great grandchildren, Dawson Teal, Blair Driggers, Kane Driggers, Bailey McCune, Landan McCune, Parker Gardner, Carter Gardner, McKenna Matheny, Laila Driggers, Farryn Driggers, Hazel Driggers, Avery Driggers, Ramsey Teal, Paxton Teal, Payne Compton, Cooper Compton, Gunner Compton, Cayden Knight, Heather Raffaldt, Stacey Lewis, Kim Curtis, Junior Matheny, Skylar Hilliard, Kyleigh Smith, and Delilah Baird; and sister, Christine “Teen” (Turner) Davis of Chesterfield, SC.
