Mr. James Maynard Sings, age 81, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Westfield Creek Baptist Church by Pastor Jason Pope and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church and other times at the home.
Mr. Sings was born June 18, 1938 in Morven, NC a son of the late James Maurice and Nezzie Virginia Lee Sings. He was a U.S. Army Veteran where he served as a paratrooper and a member of the S.C. Army National Guard. Maynard was a faithful member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church where he held the distinction as the third oldest member, joining in August of 1950. He was a retired employee of Delta Mills with 45 years of service.
Mr. Sings enjoyed traveling, listening to country music, and watching his favorite shows, The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. A kind, humble man deeply loved by his family, Mr. Maynard will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Mary Evelyn Sings of the home; sons, Ricky Sings of the home, and Mark (Vicki) Sings of Lake City, SC; grandchildren, Christian (Justin) Bazen of Florence, SC, Madison Sings of Timmonsville, SC, Brianna Sings of the home, Tate Cook and McKenna Cook both of Lake City, SC; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Bazen and Alvin Bazen; and sister, Thalia Sellers of Ruby, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
