Mr. Donald K. Tyner, age 67, entered into rest on January 1, 2020 with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life service will be 4:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Morven Baptist Church by Rev. Tommy Threatt and Pastor Doug Anderson. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary of the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Morven Cemetery.
Mr. Tyner was born July 26, 1952 in Hartsville, SC a son of the late Raleigh and Margaret Starling Tyner Hatcher. He was a retired employee of Windstream Telephone Company with over 26 years of service. A faithful member of Morven Baptist Church, Donald served as Trustee, Sunday school superintendent, and the Adult Sunday school teacher. Mr. Tyner never met a stranger and always had an eye for a deal. He also enjoyed fishing, working on old cars, and bee keeping.
In addition to his parents, Donald was also preceded in death by his step-father, Rev. Albert “Ab” Hatcher; brother, Charles Tyner; brothers-in-law, Donald Johnson and John Gary Rhynes.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 41 years, Susan Rhynes Tyner of the home; sons, Timothy Wayne (Kim) Tyner of Wadesboro, NC, and Mitchell Keith Tyner of Morven, NC; grandchildren, Reagan Tyner and Griffin Tyner; sisters, Clara (Buddy) Cole, and Diane Johnson both of Wallace, SC; sisters-in-law, Mary Boan of Chesterfield, SC, and Terry Rhynes of Wallace, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in Mr. Tyner’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (in honor of Jacob Gaddy), 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Hospice Haven of Richmond County, 1119 HWY US-1N Rockingham, NC 28379.
